Prof. Dr. S B Mujumdar established Symbiosis on the principles of Vedic thought of "World as One Family" and is resplendent of the activities and students of several countries. Symbiosis Centre for Advanced Legal Studies and Research (SCALSAR)

Symbiosis Law School, Pune encourages research and publications among faculty, students and peers and thus a separate centre called SCALSAR has been established. SCALSAR regularly conducts skills training programmes to groom the faculty and students in conducting research and publishing research in reputed and indexed journals. SCALSAR publishes Symbiosis Contemporary Law Journal (SCLJ) and Symbiosis Student Law Review (SSLR) through Lexis Nexis. SLS, Pune subscribes to the online databases, like Manupatra, SCC Online Case Finder, Westlaw, LexisNexis, Index to legal periodical, JSTOR, and other international databases like Kluwer Arbitration Online, Kluwer Patent Law Online, Kluwer Competition Law for research purposes. The papers presented at the Annual Conference are published in an ISSN Journal by SCALSAR.SLS, Pune also facilitates JRF/PhD coursework for the Faculty of Law, SIU.

Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Pune stands for excellence in legal education and is a constituent of Symbiosis International University. It has over the years prominently featured in the top 10 Law colleges in the country. Bar Council has conferred SLS Pune with the gold star award in 2013. It is also conferred with the honour of being a core partner in the global network of legal institutes, the Erasmus Mundus, DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) — a grant for bilateral Faculty student exchange with Leibniz University of Hannover, Brunswick European Law School of Ostfalia, University of Applied Sciences, Germany, membership of International Association of Law Schools (IALS), USA and Asian Law Institute, Singapore. Established in 1977, SLS Pune in a journey of 40 years has achieved various milestones in teaching, learning and research. About the Conference cum Workshop

The Annual Research Conference on Contemporary Legal Scholarship organized by SLS Pune since 2012 is a highly anticipated day in the calendar for legal scholars and students. This year we are happy to unfold the conference is a new format which includes a skills training workshop. The conference over the years has endowed a strong platform to discuss, collaborate and explore diverse issues in the field of legal studies. It invites some of the great minds from within and outside India to share and discuss their ideas on contemporary research. SLS, Pune is privileged to announce the sixth edition of the Annual Research Conference on Contemporary Legal Scholarship cum Legal Research Skills Training Workshop for the year 2017 in the month of September. For the very first time, the conference shall be held over the span of two days to accommodate a workshop designed especially for PhD scholars and other researchers to augment the legal research skills.

Objectives

The conference cum workshop aims to provide a forum for participants at national level, to research and to test new ideas and further build on these ideas. It provides opportunities for enhanced research skills, future collaborations and joint publications.

The conference cum workshop is being conducted with four vital objectives:

  • To receive hands on training in legal research from the best in the fraternity.
  • To bring together students and research scholars at national level to foster scholarly exchange of ideas.
  • To build collegial network and facilitate ongoing sharing of ideas.
  • To present research work in progress, working papers, finished papers or research articles on law to the identified tracks, in supportive and encouraging environment where experts and scholars are available to review and comment.

Climate

Pune has a tropical wet and dry climate with average temperatures ranging between 20 to 28 °C (68 to 82 °F) in September. September is the last month of monsoon. Heavy rainfall is expected in 2017. Hence the participants are requested to carry raincoats and umbrellas.
